Sustainability & Open Space
New Countryside Open Space
The proposed park land will be a major new asset for Burnham, providing space for recreation, relaxation, and nature.
It will contain footpaths, seating, natural features such as logs and boulders for further seating or play opportunities, and a range of existing and new habitats for wildlife.
This will promote wellbeing, physical activity, and a stronger connection with nature for residents and visitors alike.
The open space will also help to reduce visitor pressure on Burnham Beeches Nature Reserve by offering an alternative local destination.
Our Green Vision
Sustainability is at heart our vision for Burnham. The development will be designed around active travel, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
A comprehensive network of green infrastructure will integrate with the open space, providing ecological corridors and natural play spaces.
Additionally, the site layout will manage surface water naturally through sustainable drainage systems.

We want to ensure that our new community in Burnham is a neighbourhood that truly meets the needs of both new and existing residents.
That’s why we’re inviting you to share your views on the core principles of our emerging vision – including sustainable design, community facilities, green spaces, and connectivity.
We’d love to hear your ideas on:
- What types of community facilities would make a real difference?
- What services should be included in the local centre?
- What kinds of open spaces, play areas, or green features would you like to see?
- How can we make it easier for you to walk, cycle, or use public transport?
Your feedback will help us shape a neighbourhood that works for everyone. Whether it’s suggestions for local shops, sports facilities, outdoor spaces, or travel improvements, we welcome your input to help create a place that’s vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable for the whole community.
